LAS CRUCES, N.M.— In recognition of America’s 250th anniversary and the Bureau of Land Management’s 80th anniversary, the Bureau of Land Management, in collaboration with the City of Las Cruces, will host a community event designed to connect residents with public lands. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on October 24, at the A. B. Cox Visitor’s Center in the Dripping Springs Natural Area of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. Due to limited parking, the monument will only be accessible for those with tickets for the event.
The “Organ Mountains Jubilee” will feature living history guided hikes, outdoor recreation vendors, food truck vendors, and a ‘Kids Fun Zone’ sponsored by the City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department. The event will also include performances by Association of Country Music Artist Chuck Wimer and local Las Cruces rock band Flat Blak.
“The New Mexico Bureau of Land Management is excited to bring this Jubilee to the public as a celebration of these momentous milestones,” stated acting BLM New Mexico State Director Gera Ashton.
Those interested in attending will need a ticket. Tickets are free and available on a first come, first served basis and are required for entry. Tickets can be picked up in advance at the following locations prior to the event: BLM’s Las Cruces District Office at 1800 Marquess Street, the front desk of the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, the A. B. Cox Visitors Center at Dripping Springs Natural Area, the JVH Media Connect office at 2114 N. Scenic Avenue in Alamogordo, as well as the Visit Las Cruces office at 336 S. Main Street. On the day of the event, a limited number of tickets will be available on site for those who could not pick one up prior.
Attendees must park at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum and take the designated City of Las Cruces shuttle buses to the venue. Shuttle Service will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the last shuttle departs for Dripping Springs at 2:30 p.m.
