A pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a vehicle Saturday evening on Amador Avenue.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, Las Cruces police were dispatched to the report of a crash near the intersection of Amador Avenue and Esperanza Street. First responders arrived to find a 52-year-old man who was suffering from multiple injuries.
He was initially transported to Mountainview Regional Medical Center and then to University Medical Center in El Paso where he succumbed to his injuries. His name will not be released until next of kin are notified.
Police learned a 2025 Honda was traveling west on Amador in rainy weather when its 22-year-old driver saw the pedestrian walking in the roadway. The driver veered to the side to avoid striking the man but was unsuccessful.
The driver of the Honda remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
