Las Cruces police, along with officers from New Mexico State University Police and New Mexico State Police, issued 129 citations Wednesday morning during a two-hour operation along University Avenue.
The Las Cruces Police Department’s Traffic Unit, in cooperation with officers from the New Mexico State University Police Department and New Mexico State Police, issued 129 citations during a two-hour enforcement operation held Wednesday morning along University Avenue.
The operation, held along University Avenue, was conducted to help remind motorists that NMSU classes have resumed for the spring semester.
The 129 citations included 41 for speeding, 30 for having no proof of vehicle registration and 25 for driving without proof of insurance.
Other citations were for driving without proof of a license, using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle, illegal window tint, unsafe lane changes and other miscellaneous traffic offenses.
The traffic enforcement operation began about 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, and lasted about two hours. LCPD will likely hold similar traffic enforcement operations in the coming weeks.
