The woman killed in Monday evening’s pedestrian crash on Telshor Boulevard has been identified as 54-year-old Charlotte M. Bates of Hobbs, N.M.
Las Cruces police were dispatched to the crash, near the 500 block of south Telshor Boulevard, just before 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2025. Police learned a Ford F-150 pickup struck a woman in a northbound lane of traffic.
The 54-year-old pedestrian, later known to be Bates, was transported to Memorial Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. Police initially declined to release her name until next of kin were notified.
The driver of the pickup, a 55-year-old woman, remained on scene and was cooperative with police. The investigation indicates Bates was walking east-to-west across Telshor and was not in a marked crosswalk when the crash occurred.
No charges are anticipated in this incident.
